outfit deets: shoes - vintage naturalizers // skirt - h&m // tank - Garage (I think) // belt - vintage // scarf - Bill Blass // bag - Aldo

Hallos marshmallos. So I didn't get the greatest photos today, I took photos at the wrong time of day! Too sunny! Oh well - at least you can see what I'm wearin'. I went to my neighbours backyard to water their plants while they're on holiday and boy do they have lots and lots of plants! I kept bangin my head on trees and tripping over shrubs. It's very lush over there. I hope it's okay that I took these photos back there - HI to Tom and Judy if you guys are reading this!

Anyway, I just wore a skirt and a tank today and threw on my stacked heel oxfords, vintage brown leather belt and Bill Blass square scarf to add a little bit of flare! Oh also, I pulled out my grey Aldo bag for the first time in a few weeks. I don't often take outfit photos with my bag included but I'm thinking I should start - quite often the bag is an integral part of the outfit!

In light of the fact that I had trouble with the photos today I want to know from my fellow bloggers - what time of day do you find best to take photos? I'm partial to trying to get them a couple hours before sunset but are there any other good times?

That's all for today - just a simple post for a simple outfit!

Hope you are all having lovely days and DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE RHITBEE ANNE VINTAGE GIVEAWAY! :)

outfit deets: shoes - deena and ozzy (of course, I love them! remixed here , here , here , here , here and here)// skirt - vintage (reconstructed by me ) // tee - OLD

Hey people - this is what I wore yesterday for another super hot day in the sun. I just wore it to do some work at home, run around doing some errands, and grab dinner with friends. I've owned this skirt for quite some time but only recently did I take up the project of hemming it. You can see how I wore it a few years ago in this post. I hadn't done the whole stripes and florals thing in a little bit so I decided I might as well try it out again! I liked the results.

I jumped around a lot for this photos. I was trying to get a decent jumping shot but they all turned out weird looking. However, I did like some of the blurry messes that came about as a result of the attempts to jump. The floral skirt looks cool all blurred against the stripes. I'm going to try more jumping photos soon.

If you guys haven't noticed, quite often I revert to the "karate pose" or more appropriately in my case - the "tae kwon do pose". As seen most prominently in this post. I chalk these poses up to the fact that I took tae kwon do all throughout my childhood and for whatever reason I feel like it's a cool thing to do whilst the camera is pointed my way. I don't know?? In any case, as seen in the photo above I threw out some kicks while I was jumping around despite my wearing a skirt. I'm smart!

Anyway guys thats all for today! Hope you are all having a lovely day :)

Oh oh before I forget - please enter the Rhitbee Anne Vintage Giveaway . Seriously people, it's a super cute and real FREE ring up for grabs. What do ya got to lose?

out and about at... the cottage!

It was super windy on the lake so I tied the scarf from my hat around my neck.
I look a little special but at least my hat didn't blow away!

As promised here are more photos from my weekend at the cottage. Regrettably, this was only my first time up this summer. I'm glad I made it up though because it was beautiful up there. I went with my dad and his friend and my friend Adrienne. We were a bit of an odd combination but it was fun nonetheless. We went mudding in the jeep and out on the lake in the boat. My dad even got towed behind the boat in an inner tube. I have a lot of great pictures of that but I will spare you.

For cottage attire I mainly just hung out in cut offs and t shirts. I brought my white tennis shoes which was a bit of a mistake. After going mudding they aren't so white anymore. Dang. My favourite part about my wardrobe for the weekend was my hat! Kept my face out of the sun quite perfectly.

One of the awesome things about my cottage is that it is littered with little treasures like the cherubs pictured below. My grandmother is a bit of an artist and in her old age she has taken to painting figurines. At a point our house was just overflowing with them so my mom decided to take a bunch of them up at the cottage and just tuck them into all sorts of places all over the cottage. You will find them everywhere - even a mile away from the actual cottage in the woods! They are the guardians of the cabin.

gracie in the woods

I took the Gracie dress up to the cottage to get some pictures with it up there. I thought it would be a really great setting for this cute little dress. I was thinking the dress might be more conducive to a field setting but the woods worked just fine! I had fun prancing around in the dress, even if it was just for a little while.

I just wanted to do a quick post to show you guys these photos! I will tell you more about the cottage and show you more pictures soon! I have lots of photos from the weekend. :)

Scott Pilgrim

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Soo my pictures didn't turn out especially great today. Had a hard time finding good lighting and NOT squinting in the sun. I was sort of stumbling around all over the place. Plus I kept getting distracted by little birdies on the electrical wires. Hence my looking up in a lot of the photos. I kept one of those photos in there - I kinda like it anyway. I'm a goof.

I threw on this outfit to go pick up the latest and final volume of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim! It's a pretty simple outfit but it was nice and breezy even though the skirt is kind of a heavy cotton. The shoes, as you have probably noticed, are my favouritest things as of late.

Anyway I am soo excited to read Scott Pilgrim's finest hour. Definitely what I'm doing tonight before bed. I read the entire series last summer and fell in love with it. It's really cute. Quite honestly though, it's set in my hometown of Toronto and so I think a big part of the appeal is just how much I relate to the scenery and the characters and their relationships to the scenery. As you may have heard, they've made the series into a movie that comes out in about a month. I have mixed feelings about it but I'm hoping I will love the film just as much as I love the novels.

hot hot hot

Photobucket
Photobucket
Guys! It is so disgustingly hot out. Holy crap I can hardly believe it. I was sweating while these photos were taken and doing a lot of flipping hair out of my eyes so excuse me if I'm looking down a lot. Also, I was too distracted to notice I cropped out my shoes. Oh well, you guys have seen my deena and ozzy brogues already! Final outfit note: my skirt is totally wrinkly I know! It wasn't when I left the house - I swear!

Despite the hot weather I was so comfy in this outfit today! I always stayed away from pinks and lighter colours for fear of it washing me out. However, I don't think these colours are washing me out at all! I actually quite like them. Thoughts about light colours or pastels and fair skin? I wore this outfit to stay cool while I went downtown to pick up some flyers for the summer co sizzling sale that Rhitbee Anne Vintage will be taking part in. Very excited! I also met up with some friends for lunch and had a hamburger that was delicious but stomach killing. I am iron deficient but find that I have a hard time digesting meat and sometimes protein in general, I think. Just wondering - do any of you gals have the same problem?

Later I did a photoshoot with all the new jewellery at Rhitbee Anne Vintage! Check it out guys - I'm pretty excited about all of this stuff.

I know, I wore a really similar outfit a few posts ago! It was so hot today though that I switched up the v-neck tee for a tank. I wanted to wear this bracelet, and this outfit goes so perfectely with it I thought. How often do you guys think its acceptable to repeat an outfit?

Also, I have a bunch of vintage jewellery like this being added to Rhitbee Anne Vintage in a few days. Keep your eyes peeled!

I just received this clutch from Upside of Wonder today! I had been looking for the perfect straw clutch for awhile now so when I saw this one I knew I had to have it. I also bought a fab new straw hat today! It's been a very straw-ey day. :)

in my summer clothes

It's been a little too long since I took some outfit shots. Today I am remixed two pieces you've already seen before seperately (here and here). Plus my current belt and brogues du jour. This summer I have been going back to the same pieces over and over again it seems and I'm OK with that. Summer dressing is the easiest kind of dressing I think. In summer I favour comfy, breezy, slouchy and thrown together over the structured, calculated outfits I gravitate towards in the winter. I like being able to throw on a tee and skirt and call it an outfit.

My friend Persia took these shots before we BBQ'd it up in her backyard. I'm standing in front of her shed just goofing off.

The picture above is of the oversized bangle I'm wearing today. It's my moms and I used to admire it when I was little but it was always so gigantic and I could never actually wear it. I rediscovered it today after many many years and now it fits perfectly just below my elbow!

Anyway better get going. Feeling sick from all the food I ate today!
