grandma golfing shorts

Photobucket
Hey guys. Sorry it's been so long since I've done an outfit post. I've been a busy bee with my Etsy store. If you haven't checked it out already and you have the time, you should!

These pictures are from a few days ago when my friends and I ventured to the lake. I live about a 20 minute walk away from Lake Ontario. It's kind of a digusting Lake - but the beach is nice much of the time. We got beverages and snacks at the Sunnyside Pavilion Cafe on the lakeshore. It was a nice evening.

I'm undecided how I feel about the shorts I'm wearing in these photos. I know they're not the most flattering - but I really enjoy their aesthetic and fit and pattern. Although, with the shoe combo I feel a little bit like I should be hitting the golf course. How do you guys feel about the shorts?

Whoa, the pattern went a little crazy there in these photos!

I just got finished listing some new things in my shop. I just got my dress form on Friday so I have been going crazy taking photos of all of the items. I still haven't decided on a name for the dress form though. Any ideas? I was thinking Betsey but then I rememberd that the name of my laptop. Berta is the name of my late bike. I seem to dig the "B" names, could be time to mix it up though! Click on the image below to check out my new listings and to see the new dress form.

Rhitbee Anne Vintage launch!

Hey guys! I listed my first few items on Etsy today! All of the dresses and skirts pictured below are up for sale. Some of these things are very near and dear to my heart so I hope they find good homes. This whole thing has been quite a bit of time in the making so trust me there is a lot more to come.

urban renewal

I've always loved the urban renewal stuff at Urban Outfitters. If you didn't already know urban renewal pieces are reconstructed vintage or made from deadstock or surplus materials I've bought a few pieces over the years but this shirt is my fave recent find. I don't typically buy red because of what it does to my skin tone - but I think this particular shade isn't doing terrible things. It's a basic button up turned tunic with a really cute collar - I wish you could see the collar better but this shirt is actually kind of hard to photograph.

While I was out taking photos some friends were watching me. Sometimes the squirrels run right up and look right at me - like they think I have peanuts in my pocket all the time. I think it's because my mom feeds them too much. Spoiled squirrels.

I'll talk to ya guys soon!

white shoes white belt

Photobucket
I wore this to mission to a Sally Ann that is a bit of a bus ride away from my house. I have to say though it was worth the mish. I had a GOOD day yesterday at the Sally Ann. Yowz. I scored pretty majorly.

Aside from that I just wore this around the house watching Big Love and doing some much needed organizing.

drawn: sweet&rough

Photobucket
I've been trying my hand at some drawing lately. It's something I pick up now and again so due to the spotty nature of this hobby I'm not really that great. Although I've become pretty great at drawing Daleks. Anyway, I want to become good at drawing outfits so whenever I have an idea I can draw it down to remember it. This is a much better option than my usual routine of storing ideas up in my old noggin where they inevitably get pushed out by taco recipes and memorable six feet under moments. So I'm practicing by drawing old outfits of mine and I thought I'd share my first attempt with you guys. This outfit is from the sweet & rough post I did a few weeks ago. Hopefully there will be more where this came from. I plan on only getting better!

Later party people.

singing my life with his words

Photobucket
There's certain songs that just take you back to really exact moments. Ludacris' "Fantasy" never fails to remind me of driving home in my dads blue chevy with my best friends on my like 14/15th birthday. The girls were all unabashedly singing the lyrics to that song (you know - "I wanna lick lick lick you from your head to your toes...") in the back seat as I sat red faced in the front seat hoping my dad wasn't paying attention. The Pixies "Where is my Mind" reminds me of driving around up north by my cottage in torrential down pour just to get ice cream whilst doing terribly silly things with my girlfriends.

Everytime I hear "Killing Me Softly" by the Fugees I am reminded of my grade 9 "talent show." When some very brave girl got up on stage and sang this song to a crowd that was very resistant to her take on the song. So to show that she was a rebel and didn't care what everyone else thought - she attempted to "crowd surf" her way off stage - despite the total lack of a crowd in front of the stage. Of course the song reminds me of other things too, it's a beautiful song, but I can't hear the song without remembering that instance. Do any songs do that for you guys?

I actually wore this outfit last weekend, but have been too busy until today to get around to posting the snaps! Really simple outfit for a casual lunch with a friend. I love this sweater with these jeans - ultra comfy!

how am I to be?

Since I started blogging I've been struggling to reconcile my own average everyday views with the way I feel about fashion. Truth is, I love clothes and I love getting dressed up - and I love that I have found a community that loves the same thing! I don't love it all the time, and sometimes I think the fashion world is so ridiculous and petty and totally irrelevant to everything else that is going on in the world, and in my head. Bottom line though, clothes/fashion or whatever you want to call it inspire me in a way that no other art form ever has before.

With that said though, I'm not some avante garde fashionista - and in the pictures below you'll probably note some old staples. In any case, I felt good in my outfit today and loved that I matched the pond and the turtles.

Dale and I went for a walk through tig forest and to the pond. There were crazy birds, ducks, turtles and people to be found there. All of which I found highly entertaining. Dale snapped some pictures of me and the wildlife while we were out.

money city maniacs

I've been away for a whole week, I know. I have just been so so busy! First of all, my desktop computer is currently out of commission pretty well. It should be fixed soon but I have been spending a good amount of time trying to fix it. Secondly and more excitingly I have been busy with getting everything ready for the launch of Rhitbee Anne Vintage! I am so excited - everything is finally coming together. I'm thinking I will be able to begin listing pieces within the week - potentially week and a half. I have some really exciting things surrounding the launch of the shop, but you guys will just have to wait and see what I have up my sleeve!

I've had this ring for a really long time! It's pretty ridiculous and it glows in the dark. Still one of my faves.
Photobucket
I wore this dress just running around the house today. It's super grunge era but I love the way the collar classes it up just a little and the little flower print is so adorbale. It's real short though, I don't know how easy I would be able to wear this on the subway. We'll see but this little number might just be going up in the shop soon!

On a note unrelated to anything else in this post, aside from the title: have you guys heard the song Money City Maniacs by Sloan? It's one of the great songs of the 90s. I know Sloan is predominantly only popular in Canada but I think they have somewhat of a following in the states too. Anyway, if you have heard the song you'll know the chorus is pretty well unintelligible. It's one of those songs where everyone you know has a different opinion on what they're singing - each interpretation equally hilarious. I love songs like that, can you guys think of any others? What are the lyrics and some of the interpretations you've heard?

The Money City Maniacs chorus really goes "...and the joke is when he awoke his body was covered in coke fizz"

I've heard, "...and the joke is where do you want this? his body was totally joking"
or "...and the joke is bloodier wine kiss body was covered in buttkiss"
or "...and the joke is where do you want kids? body was covered in yokess"

talk soon guys!
