outfit deets: shoes - vintage (nanners) // socks - AA // tights - UO // dress - F21 // jacket - vintage // hat - thrift

Recall this post and notice how I was wearing a very similar outfit almost a year ago in this same area behind Dale's house. Well, really the only thing that is the same is the jacket but the jacket makes the overall feel of both outfits quite similar. I like to think that my style has evolved since last year and certainly I have learned to take a few more risks but I think my style at it's core has still remained the same though I think I have become better at expressing it.

When Dale helps me take my outfit photos I generally smile a lot more because he's always cracking jokes and being generally silly. I was also smiling up a storm because my face was frozen that way. Typically I don't like photos of me smiling cause I feel like I look too goofy but I smile all of the time so I figure I should give you guys an accurate depiction of what I look like most of the time!

This was just a simple outfit for a simple lazy day. The boots don't really match the dress and everything is a bit of a jumble but I still think it works.

Talk soon lovelies!

outfit deets: shoes - c/o Big Buddha // tights, turtleneck - H&M // skirt - Old Navy

I know, I totally wore this same skirt in my last outfit post but I really wanted to wear it for Christmas! We don't really gut all gussied up for Christmas in my household so I thought this outfit was festively appropriate but also not too dressed up. Paired with the turtleneck and the hat I was nice and cozy beside the TV Yule Log.

As you can probably tell by the quality of these photos, Dale has acquired a new camera. Seriously holy snaps. I am pretty in love with it. It was almost sundown when we took these photos and they still turned out so well!

How was Christmas for everyone? I had a pretty good day full of too too...too much food, a new Ukulele, new clothes, Doctor Who, Sherlock, my crazy yet equally lovable family annnd of course experiments in picture taking with a camera that is way cooler than any camera I have had the pleasure of even holding in my life. Swooooon.

And so another Christmas is all wrapped up (eh eh?). Time for bed!

Yuletide and Year End

Photobucket
Photobucket

I thought for a year-end wrap-up post I would do a little collage of all of my favourite outfits and photos from this past year. Rhitbee-isms has been going strong for almost a year now (anniversary in February :p) so I thought the year end was a good a time as any to look back. I can't believe all of the wonderful people I have found through the blogosphere and all of the amazing opportunities that have come my way through it. I hope for another wonderful blog year ahead!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays my lovelies. I hope you are all having a wonderful day today, I know I am!

Merry Happy and Happy Merry! :p

Your Fashion Story E1

Photobucket
After I posted My Fashion Story some very lovely ladies offered up their fashion stories so, as promised, I thought I would share them with you:

Kate Maggie of Postcards From

My grandmother and I would always go to the local thrift store every weekend. She collected tea cups and tin cans, and I would always cruise through the aisles of dresses. She would tell me how she wore them in her young age and I decided I want to be just like her. So I bought vintage dresses. 1, 2, 10, 35 of them until its all I wore. Thats when my love for fashion began! I didnt care if I looked like I was 88 or a complete idiot at highschool. I wanted to just feel beautiful in what I wore and do it for myself and noone else! after a while people would stop making fun of me and then start to appreciate it. I think its refreshing when you can be who you want to be with no masks or worry of what people think.

Sands of Sealverland

I don't really have a fashion story, but I was never interested in fashion until I turned 16. I was a total tomboy throughout my childhood, always wearing the same stuff as my younger brother (by 1 year, haha). I'd always hang out with guys, racing them in my roller blades and playing pokemon tag (don't ask). And then I started watching SATC series and fell in love with Carrie. Yeah, it's as corny as it gets!

Carizzachua

As a kid, I used to collect paper dolls and drew different sketches of wedding gowns. As I grew up, I got hooked into different Japanese anime, but I started to get conscious about my appearance during high shool. I got addicted into heavy and loud accessories and I also do nail art at that time, which is apparently not allowed in school so by the time I got a memo from our school principal, I stopped.

It all started over again during 2007, when I planned to open an online business. I sell Japanese style fashion clothes, accessories, shoes and contact lens.

From there, I’ve learned how to mix and match outfits and I was able to get clothes for a lower price!

I loved reading these and I would love to read more so I can keep this idea going. So I want you to just tell me your actual fashion story and tell your story as an actual story using any story-telling technique you wish. The story should include but is not at all limited to things like: how old you were when you got into fashion, how you got into fashion, what fashion means to you, and how your feelings have changed towards fashion over the years.

Leave your story as a comment on this post, or better yet - do your own blog post about your fashion story and send me the link in an e-mail or in the comments below.

This Western Feeling

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
outfit deets: shoes - c/o Big Buddha // socks,tights - H&M // skirt - old navy ($5!) // blouse, cardigan - thrift

Oh my gosh, so I'm finally back! As soon as I finished my exams last week I got hit hard with a head cold for a couple of days so I was down and out and then the past few days have been straight shopping. I am done now though, with two days to spare. Yatta! I went out today to pick up a few last minutes things and also to check out the Bicyclette Holiday Pop-Up on Queen West! We picked up some DaLish lip-balms and I'm in love with them already.

I feel like the mood of these photos pretty accurately describes my mood right now. I wish I was eloquent enough to describe that mood to you, but I don't believe that I am. My outfit is festive enough - but the background is kind of stark but still moody. This Christmas is going to be the first I have ever had without my Nan being around, so it is kind of sad. I am also looking forward to it though, Christmas with the fam is always a laugh - and I love having Dale around now too for it.

I've also been in a weird mood since last night when Dale played Voyage 34 by Porcupine Tree in the car. I don't know why it's put me in a weird mood - but I feel affected.

Anyway this concludes todays ramblings. I hope everyone is feeling festive! If you aren't though, the Rhitbee Anne Vintage Holiday Coupon Code should cheer you up! :)

Winter White

Photobucket
outfit deets: boots - vintage // socks - AA // tights - ? // dress - H&M // sweater - thrifted // hat - vintage

I ran outside quick to snap some shots before I headed out to my exam but I only got one decent picture! The rest were extremely over-exposed because of the snow and sun - it's going to take some work to figure out how to get good winter outfit pictures. I am going to have to play around more with inside shots.

Anyway this is just what I wore to the exam - I got all cozied up in my thigh-high socks and white sweater and threw on my go-to gauzy floral dress. It worked well for the day - I was nice and warm! Now lets just hope I did well on my physics exam. eek.

I still encourage you guys to create/write/submit your Fashion Story - I am putting together a post for the weekend and you still have time to be in it! Also, don't forget about the Rhitbee Anne Vintage Holiday coupon code!

That's all for today lovelies!

Happy hump day,

My Fashion Story

Photobucket

I don't know about you guys, but every now and again I enjoy watching a video or two from one of my favourite makeup gurus on youtube. I have a few that I like to watch but JuicyStar07 is probably my favourite.

Anyway, I have noticed a tag going around amongst the youtube gurus called "My Makeup Story" and I thought the tag would actually translate pretty well into the fashion blogosphere so I kind of morphed it a little in order to make my own tag. I'm not usually big into tags but I think this one is pretty cool and people can interpret it the way they want if they want to do it too!

Basically, I want you to just tell me your actual fashion story. The twist is that I think it would be cool to tell your story as an actual story using any story-telling technique you wish. The story should include but is not at all limited to things like: how old you were when you got into fashion, how you got into fashion, what fashion means to you, and how your feelings have changed towards fashion over the years.

I'll start:

My Brown Plaid Pants

I remember my brown plaid pants. They looked like pajama pants, they probably were pajama pants but they were my favourite pants. I wore them with everything and probably three times a week all throughout grade 7 and 8. Everyone hated them. My mom said they looked too ratty because they were too long for me and the ends were all torn and frayed from being stepped on. My friends always commented about their uncanny resemblance to pajamas. Everyone else didn't say anything - but they gave me funny looks sometimes. I wore them anyway because I thought they were cool and I felt good in them.

In grade 7 and 8 I absolutely hated shopping, the brown plaid pants were actually a pair of pants my mom had bought for my dad for some reason and I stole them. A lot of my wardrobe at that time was stolen or borrowed from my dad. Despite the fact that I hated shopping I still went a lot with my friends even though I didn't really have the money to be buying new clothes and nothing in any of the stores they wanted to go to would fit me anyway. I went because I liked hanging out with my friends. I don't know how much they enjoyed shopping with me though, I was constantly talking about how stupid all the clothing stores they liked were! One time in particular I was standing outside of a shop with another friend whilst the rest of my friends shopping and, of course, I was wearing my brown plaid pants and this lady came up to me and actually complimented me on my pants. She even asked me where I got them from! I wasn't really that surprised at the compliment just because I was pretty confident in my brown plaid pants. More confident than I had ever been probably in anything else. I was just happy that someone else recognized that they were actually pretty rad.

I think my fashion story really begins with my brown plaid pants. Before them I think I was mainly dressing to blend in, after them I started to dress to express myself. I love fashion so much because it gives me this opportunity to really put myself out there. I can be as creative as I want when I put together an outfit and that outfit is all mine - it is totally me! Yah, it's about expressing myself to others but I think it is more about expressing myself to myself and for myself. Sometimes I get up in the morning and put together an outfit and look in the mirror and think "yah, that IS how I am feeling today".

My brown plaid pants taught me that fashion was mainly for myself. My brown plaid pants helped me to delve into myself deeper and learn to discover new things fashion wise. My fashion story begins with my brown plaid pants but I hope they never make a cameo again, unless that is what I really want, then I'm sure I'll make them look awesome.

OK people now it is your turn! I want to hear your fashion stories. If I get enough responses I will make this into a weekly/monthly feature where I will showcase some of your stories! Leave your story as a comment on this post, or better yet - do your own blog post about your fashion story and send me the link in an e-mail or in the comments below.

I'm looking forward to reading your stories, feel free to get as creative, crazy, avante-garde, short, long, whatever as you want with them!

Happy story-telling,

xo Robyn

I am loving th rich fuschia colour of the scarf paired with this dark brown dress. I put it all together and immediately felt luxurious but yet still oh so comfy. I wanna eat my outfit, is that weird? Anyway, I'm ready to go run some errands now and get my Christmas packages shipped out to family!

It is still freezing out but I'm dealing with the cold in order to get the outside outfit shots. Maybe one day I'll have a better camera and will be able to take indoor shots, until then I will freeze my tuchus off!

Just a quickie today. Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a brilliant weekend.

Cold Air and Purple Velvet

outfit deets: shoes - c/o Big Buddha // thigh highs - American Apparel // tights - H&M // dress - Forever 21 // cardigan - thrifted // coat - vintage // scarf - H&M and remade

My gosh it is cold out! I found that in most of my photos today I was giving the stink eye to the camera. It was so cold! I was disgruntled with the air. It wasn't until the very last photo that I cracked a smile - probably because I realized I would be able to run in the house in a few seconds. Believe it or not, I am still wearing all of the attire pictured in the first two photos as I sit here and write this because I am still FAH-REEZING. Did I mention it's cold? There is a cold weather alert in my area. Brr.

I wore this out for a thrifting adventure in which I bought a big warm fuzzy white sweater among some other great finds. I have been on the lookout for big sweaters lately and I'm glad I found this one before christmas! I picked up this purple crushed velvet dress from Forever 21 a little while ago and have worn it a few times since but never managed to snap decent outfit photo of it. I love the slight military detailing with the buttons and the slouch pockets are a great touch.

Anyway - I am off to see Waiting for Superman at the local theatre with some friends. I am hoping it's good - I'm sure at the least it will be insightful.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new outfit methinks, I've been a bad blogger this week.

Just so you know, I adore you guys and all of your sweet comments.

I Let The Bad Ones In and The Good Ones Go

I am not a hoarder by any definition of the word but I am still not good at getting rid of things! I'll tell you why I am bad at it. Often times I'll have a piece in my closet and I haven't worn it for a long time and I think that I will probably never have a reason to wear it again and so I'll donate it. Then a few months later I am wishing I never donated that piece because I thought of the perfect way to wear it again! I can't count the amount of times this has happend to me. I think I need to come up with a better system for getting rid of clothes because I am going to have to do another big purge soon. My cloffice is over-flowing. How do you guys decide which items to boot from your wardrobe?

I haven't worn this dress since the dog days of summer but I thought it was capable of doing some double duty so I just paired it with a cardigan and a scarf and it was good to go. I shrunk the dress accidentally a while after buying it and it was too short to wear without tights but it works pretty great with some opaque tights, I think.

I have a pretty funny post I'm working on for tomorrow! I'm excited :)

On Repeat: Robyn

So far away but still so near. The lights go on, the music dies...but you don’t see me standing here...I just came to say goodbye.

No, I have not suddenly become worthy of my own On Repeat feature haha! Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn has! I remember when I was younger and still amazed by the wonders of the world-wide web I wanted to see what was at 'www.robyn.com' 'cause I don't know, all the cool kids were doing it with their own name. Anyway, at said website I found her and shortly after that discovered her album Robyn is Here. I had kind of forgotten about her since then until recently when my friend Julia turned me on to her new album Body Talk. It's quickly become the only thing I have been listening to at the gym! She has changed a lot since I used to listen to her 12 years ago, for the better, I think. I still occasionally sing the words to the song Robyn is Here though - for obvious reasons.

I'm particularly a fan of her single Dancing On My Own and it's accompanying music video. She looks gorgeous and I absolutely love everything she wears in it. Particularly that heather grey dress with the leather shoulders and cut out back! Another favourite part of the video: her crazy dance punches! I love one of the comments about them on youtube under the video: "she probably knocked her partner out with her dance punches, thats why shes dancing on her own xD".

Give the song a listen - let me know what you think!
