Heya lovelies! School has once again consumed my life. The upside is that I have been working on some pretty exciting essays that explore fashion and personal style blogging. I am so excited to share some of my work with you guys, but alas, I must wait until I get my papers back!

On Friday I had my first ever real life blogger meet up with Nat of Juxta-Posing! I won't say too much about it because there will be a whole post about it coming soon. We did a little swap though and traded a couple things. This shirt was part of the swap and boy am I glad she offered it up! I have been swooning over this blouse since I first saw it and was so excited to style it up. I decided to go with "orange explosion" as inspiration for the outfit. The tights just went so perfectly with th the blouse I just could not resist! Nat just recently wore this same blouse so head on over to her blog to check out how she styled it up!

Anyway I am going to keep it short this Thursday morning. I hope you are all doing well!

Talk soon!!

No Rain

outfit deets: raincoat - vintage // shoes - Payless //skirt - vintage Express // tee- H&M // scarf - Ralph Lauren

So I wore this rain jacket on a day when it didn't actually rain. It really looked like it would all day but it never did. It was actually kind of cold, probably a little too cold for this jacket. It was certainly cold whilst we were outside snapping these shots. Now guess what it is doing outside? SNOWING. Really winter? I thought we were passed this.

Anyway, this coat! What a project. It hit me somewhere just above the ankle when I first got it and immediately knew it had to be chopped. Thing about it is that it is actually double-sided, you can flip it over and inside out and wear it on the blue side too! I thought it would be a more difficult project than I had initially anticipated so I was going to just take it into the tailor. The other day though I decided I was probably up to the task and started in on it and it actually turned out OK! Now I have a real rain coat to wear on rainy days and I guess days when it doesn't rain either!

Happy Tuesday lovelies. I hope your day has been much less snowy.

Life Ache

Me and my friends always used to say that our lives hurt whenever we weren't having the best of luck or weren't feeling good or were generally feeling disenchanted with life. My life hurts today. I think it's mainly because my hair is driving me bonkers. Haha, oh boy I'm a winner. It's the little things that make me happy but it can also be the little things that drive me nuts.

I've been remixing this dress a lot lately. I just love it so much that I want to wear it all of the time. In fact, I love it so much that Dale is washing it right now so I can wear it again tomorrow, haha!

I've been thinking about moving my blog over to a different platform lately, like possibly tumblr? Do you guys have any experience with tumblr or moving your blog? I'm a little scared but I think it might be time for a change. I don't know if I will end up doing it but it is something I am thinking about.

Happy weekend lovelies! I am going to see the movie Paul today with Dale - I'm excited, I hope it's good!

It's an Ordinary Day

At the end of the day, you've just got to say "it's all right!" Talk about "on repeat" I'm quite literally listening to Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea over and over right now. Two on repeats in a row? I'm on a roll! I just love this song, and I love Great Big Sea. To me, st. paddy's is not a bona fide holiday here in Canada. It's pretty silly but none-the-less I am OK with the underlying feel of the holiday. I'm not sure why, but I get this sort of care-free, laid-back but also Rant and Roarin' East Coast vibe from the day. That's why I'm listening to Great Big Sea today. I know I'm from Toronto, and have not even been to the East Coast since I was real little but I still identify with East Coast living. My dad is a true Newfoundlander, that's probably why.

Anyway, I forgot it was st pats until this morning when I turned on the news. I had a completely different outfit planned but figured I wanted to put a little green on. My favourite part are my greeny shoes!

"Wayhayhay it's just an ordinary day, and it's all your state of mind..." Seriously - words to live by! Especially the wayhayhay part.

Happy Green Day!

Rainy Day People

If you get lonely, all you really need is that rainy day love.
Rainy day people all know there's no sorrow they can't rise above.

It was a gross rainy day all day while I was at school. I was thinking today would be yet another day gone by without outfit photos because of it but the weather gods smiled on me today and the clouds parted just as I got home and clouds parted and gave way to some awesome sun! Spring is almost here, I can feel it in the way that the sun is started to actually feel hot again!

I've been listening to A LOT of Gordon Lightfoot lately and I am finding he is so perfect to listen to in the spring. There is one tune in particular that I think is the perfect springtime song but I am saving that for a real springtime day! For now, I love his rainy day people song and it's sentiment. Rainy day people are those people who are there through thick and thin. They are there for you when you are experiencing the most awful of situations and not only when times are cheerful and sunny. The worst is that often times you think you have a rainy day person in your corner and when the going gets rough they're out the door faster than you can say 'high steppin strutter'.I am lucky enough to have a few rainy day people in my life because they are few and far between, let me tell you.

Anyway, give the song a listen! I have it linked for you up there. I think I might start doing my music or 'on-repeat' features this way rather than with the youtube posts. I like the way that music can set the mood for the photos.

I just had to include this last photo because it is a photo of me landing from an attempt at an action jump photo and the exact moment I landed on my already hurt ankle. OW! I'm so smart sometimes.

Happy hump day!!

Tweet Tweet

Photobucket

Hey lovahlies! Soo yes, I continue to be on a bad blogger streak. In my defense, a lot of my free time as of late has gone to fixing things up around the house as we are still in the middle of renovations. We are pretty well done the main floor now and are moving on to upstairs and bedrooms now which I am not looking forward to. I just hate plaster dust is all.

Anywhooo, though I haven't been blogging I have still been around and on twitter! Dale bought me an ipad a week and a bit ago which has only increased my twittering. I love twitter, I love being able to get little bits and bites of info and cute little quips made by some of my favourite people. However, I have noticed this weird trend with twitter. On occasion I will read through someones tweets (not anyone I actually follow, thank garsh!) and feel slightly put off with their on going cynical or depressing sentiments and wonder if that person is really actually that cynical or depressed. In an effort to learn more I will often hop over to their blog or youtube channel or whatever to watch a video of theirs or read a post and more often than not they turn out not to be depressed or cynical but just the oppposite! So my wonder is, what is it about twitter that lends itself to the divulgence of contemptuous and despondent tweets? I mean, of course, we all have our moments and I am not saying that I am immune to this behaviour by any right but I just wonder why some people tend to have such a seperation of attitudes in different forums. I think all of the above probably also applies to facebook too - I just don't really read through facebook as much.

Just some thoughts! Oh also, I am in LOVE with my We Love Colours orange tights... and my ipad. ♥

That's Soo...Postcards From

Hello all of you wonderful people! Today I bring to you the first edition of a new monthly feature that will be happening here at Rhitbee-isms entitled "That's Soo...". It's a funny name, I know, but I thought it best described the nature of what I want this feature to be! It is inspired by those instances in which we go shopping with friends or family and they pick out and hold up an item and say "you have to get this - it is SOO YOU!" As if there is something about the item in itself that oozes your personality and style to them. In this feature I want to explore this phenomena and the idea of signature style. It's fun to explore on your own but it's even more fun to explore with friends so I thought we could learn more by getting some of my very favourite fashion bloggers to answer some questions on the topic!

I thought who better than Kate of Postcards From to start the feature off! Her blog is a must-read and she is a source of endless inspiration with her gorgeous outfit photos and wonderfully written and thoughtful posts. She was kind enough to answer some questions I had about the idea of signature style. So without further ado:

What are some of the types of items people tend to think are 'sooo Kate'? Has anyone ever been way off?

What a fun question! I cant tell you how many times I have had friends or people who hardly even know me tell me "I was shopping today, and everything just screamed 'Kate!!' - and I am always wondering 'What does that even mean?!" I think one of my signature items is tights. You will find me wearing tights 95% of the year, and that is definately a "sooo Kate" item. Usually items that people tell me remind them of me are filled with floral patterns, leather, velvet, and anything that looks like it is from a different era. About two years ago a girl bought me a dress as a gift that she said 'suited me perfectly' as soon as I opened it I laughed so hard with her saying "What were you thinking?!" it was skin tight, super revealing, and bright yellow! I couldnt think of an item more unlike Kate than that!

Photobucket
Do you think you have a signature style? If so, what are some features of it?

I definitely think that I have a signature style! My blog readers can usually tell when I wear something on my blog that isnt very 'Kate'. I think my signature pieces would obviously be tights, dresses, vintage boots, and unique accessories whether they be hair pieces, necklaces, rings, etc.
Photobucket
Have you had different styles over the years? That is, what was 'sooo Kate' in years past?

Hehe, this is a question I am almost embarassed to answer! I grew up wearing my moms clothes and shoes to elementry school because I wanted to be a grown up so incredibly badly. In Highschool I went through a few different stages which I dont usually share, but I will give you a bit of a sneak peak into my humiliating moments. Grade 9 I became obsessed with basketball and spice girl inspired platforms. I would wear jerseys and big block heels to school every single day. My personal style truly developed in Grade 11. I started to not care about what people thought of me, and wore what made me happy. I grew a love for vintage dresses and floral and it just sort of stuck since then!
Photobucket
Lastly, if you could pick one person who you thought really had a signature and 'sooo them' style who would it be and why?

I would say Audrey Hepburn. She is my idol and I am utterly fascinated by her. Every outfit she wore I always think "That is SO Audrey" She got it perfect every single time. She had this incredible gift to make every look of hers classy, glamorous, and still a bit mysterious. Shes an absolute fashion genius!
Photobucket

Thanks Kate for your awesome answers and thank you guys for reading! I advise you all to check out her blog if you haven't already. Have you guys had experiences with friends, family, or readers picking up on your signature style? Ever had people get it totally wrong?

Outfit of the Day Video: Dance'd

outfit deets: dress - thrifted // cargidan - thrifted // tights - H&M // jewellery - vintage

haha OK you reserve the right to call me a total doofus and make fun of me after watching this video. I went outside earlier in the day to take outfit photos but it was too sunny and my batteries died before I had time to figure out how to take photos in the glaring sun so I came inside and decided to make a video instead. This is a pretty shoddy attempt and the cuts are a bit raw BUT this was my first time editing anything so at least it's watchable? hehe maybe? Let me know what you think!

If you know me in meat life (off the internet, I mean), you'll know that I dance everywhere and to pretty much everything. I dance when I'm cold, I dance when I hear a song I like, or don't like for that matter. I dance and make my friends embarassed! I can't help it. Anyway, I was just going to make a regular video of my outfit without dancing... but then I started dancing, and now you have an outfit of the day video: dancing style. OK I think I have said the word 'dance' a sufficient amount of times!

Happy Monday lovelies!
