About Me! The Formal, Listed Edition

I thought I really ought to do some kind of proper "About Me"/"About Rhitbee-isms" post, as I have never actually done one before. As added incentive, one of my new fave fash bloggers North Country Girl gave me a Versatile Blogger Award the other day and to accept it I must share 7 things about myself. I thought I might as well combine the two. If you read my blog you might already know a lot of these things, but everyone loves lists. Am I right? It's going to be a bit of a jumble of tid bits.

1. I take a good portion of my Daily Outfit photos myself. Although I love going out with Dale and snapping some shots and it's nice to have a friend take some shots if I'm out and don't have my tripod I also love having the creative control of taking the photos myself. I just set the self-timer and go nuts. Seriously, I get a little crazy sometimes and take an exorbitant amount of pictures. There are always a lot of outtakes. Ex:

2. It has only been in the past few years that, excuse me, my "passion for fashion" has really blossomed. I always had a little bit of a creative streak when it came to getting dressed, but I lacked the intensity that I have now for all things fashion. Related to this "creative streak" was something commonly referred to as my "Bag Lady Extraordinaire" phase. The photo isn't entirely representative of this phase, but it was the best my old Myspace account could muster up.

3. If you will notice the t-shirt worn in the photo above it is actually one of my old Tae Kwon Do shirts. This is my third little factoid, I took Tae Kwon Do for a good portion of my childhood into my teenage years. On top of that, I played hockey from the age of 6 to 18. I also played soccer and baseball with some regularity but after 18 all of my sportyness kind of just stopped. It was for a number of reasons, but I think mainly it was because after 18 there are just not as many organized sports leagues out there for women. In any case, I recently joined a gym to get back into shape! I have been trying to go about four times a week so if you ever hear of me slacking - yell at me or something.

4. I learned how to thrift from a serious master of the trade. My mother is a savant when it comes to thrifting. When I was little we were constantly at church bazaars. My parent's wedding day was the same day as one of my mom's favourite Spring bazaars and she was torn up over the fact that she wouldn't be able to go. She told my dad that she was going to pop in quick right before the ceremony and he told her (jokingly, I think) that if she did he would refuse to marry her. Suffice to say, she decided not to go that year.

5. From no fault of my own I am a little bit of a TV nerd. That is, it's all my nerdy boyfriends fault. I kid, I kid. He's the best and he's introduced me to soo many cool shows. One of my all-time favourites is Doctor Who (the tenth Doctor mainly but Matt Smith is OK too, I guess).

6. I am currently in my lastish year doing my BA in Philosophy. When I'm done I really want to go to college to get a diploma in Fashion Arts. It might be a year or two in between getting my degree and going for the diploma so hopefully I can land some sort of money-making job in between. I love what I am doing right now though with the blog and the shop and quite seriously I wish I could dedicate all of my time to it. I love studying philosophy though and I love all of the tools it has allowed me to develop and looking forward to the future I know each and every one of them will be useful in whatever I end up doing.

7. Lastly, and I know you guys have been dying to hear this! :p I must tell you the origins of my online handle. A couple years back Dale was trying to decide on a blog name for himself. Jokingly in my usual ridiculousness I fashioned a name that expressed how totally cool I am. That name, of course, was Rhitbie and it stands for Robyn H Is The Best Individual Ever... I can't believe I am telling you guys this it is so lame. Anyway, after saying it I just liked the way it sounded rolling off my tongue - the word, not the meaning behind the word. Suffice to say, I decided to keep it for myself and vowed never to tell anyone the meaning behind it. I needed a seventh fact though so here it is. Eventually I switched out the 'i' at the end for another 'e' so the pronunciation would be a little more intuitive - this is why my twitter and chictopia account are still under the name 'Rhitbie'.

Well - now you know just a little bit more about me. I encourage you guys to do something similar and let me know if you do it because I would love to read some factoids about you! I might make this a little bit of a series so I can get an "About" thread going and because this list of 7 is by no means exhaustive.

Happy Weekend!!

xo Robyn
